ESC @ Bertinoro - Italy 🇮🇹

The ESC school is held at CEUB, the Bertinoro University Residential Center, housed since 1994 in the historic Bertinoro Fortress. It’s located on a hill in Emilia-Romagna which dates back to the 6th century and was built by the Byzantine Empire as a defensive stronghold. In the 10th century it was expanded by the Guidi family, becoming a strategic and contested stronghold. Throughout the Middle Ages it witnessed numerous sieges and battles, symbolizing resilience and resistance. From the mid-15th century, under the Malatestas and later the bishops, it lost its military role. It became a center for archives, education, and culture, later serving as the episcopal palace. Important artistic works, including frescoes, were completed in the early 17th century. In 1969 the diocese merged with Forlì, ending its episcopal function. Today the fortress is a restored cultural center and museum.
It offers stunning views and preserves a rich historical heritage for visitors.
